V&H is made of shaZam! ... ooo wait not exactly... more like an alloy of shaZam! and steel ... ok it rusts easy. The 1200 paint should have been ok if you sanded it and got down into the metal and then painted ... but if not ... its toast. So sand it well and paint again and see if it doens't stay on. BTW every year you'll have to paint it. The stock is OK for ~2 years and then you do need to paint it as well.
Cool.
