Quote from: fettcolsIs there a spot for the tool kit in the Brazil undertail?
actually, under the seat, it looks alot like the stock...i'm assuming they had used the stock undertail as a template.

How are the projects coming along?

the 89 to 00 undertail is at a stand still until i have the valves adjusted on the bikes... i'm thinking the kit will be in any day now.

I lay awake last night trying to figure out how to make a solo seat cowl for my '89 GS.

So. . . let me pick your brain, Pixelmonkey. . . What are you making that mold out of?  Is oil clay the only thing you can make a master with?  Styrofoam?

Let me know how it goes and keep this thread alive!  I'm super interested and spend my money in all the wrong places.

Many of the ancients believe that Jake D was made of solid stone.

i'm starting with a poster board for the undertail, making cuts where the dent will be for the rear tire / hugger.

for the sides, it's a styrofoam base with oil clay on top. photos will be coming this weekend.

as for the mold, i'm split on what to use at the moment. some have suggested plaster, other have suggested resen and fiberglass for the reverse mold with bridges for support so the mold doesnt change form after it's removed from the clay.

i want to finish the layout first... then work on the rest.

A master can be made out of most any material...wood, styrofoam, plaster, plexiglass, clay, spray foam, card board....

Epoxy resins are better to use than polyester resins. The mold should be a reverse of the part. Avoid die-locks in the mold design. If this happens then a 2-piece mold is needed. Don't forget about the mold release. Vacuum bagging is a must.

Do a search on the web and you find a lot of info on this.
Common sense in not very common.

I ordered one from Brazil today... Hope it turns out well, maybe they got some practice in when making/painting the last two...

When I ordered the parts I asked Joe to make sure they're painted on both sides.. I guess the shop was closed for a week because of Carnival..

Sounds like a good time to be in Brazil...

$85... I imagine that's for a pair... Let me know how it turns out for you..

I don't know what I'm going to do for a license plate lamp.. probably something pretty ghetto...

yea, they're sold in pairs...with 10% off, it should be around $85 shipped. it's not too bad for a pair of led tail lights.

as for the license plate lighting...

I was figuring one of those led bolts... but I like that second one..

How long did it take to receive your parts from them?

Has anyone asked them about some of the fancy exhaust systems that are on their display bikes?

I hope that clears things up and resets confidence in those interested in this kit--
On a side note im not validating whos right or wrong in this little ordeal, but I hope it sets some minds at ease on their purchase decision

i just told it the way is was, nothing more nothing less. if they want to talk about how they f%&ked up the order my sending me someone else's order, that's fine. but that only shows how incompetent they are. it's not even like they're processing hundreds of these undertails...

but it still doesn't explain how everything didn't fit. i don't really care for them solving problems after the fact. if they were located in the states, i would have returned it for sure. my point is...make sure everything fits BEFORE selling the product. i just want a better product for our gs...

like i've mentioned in my review, even with more than expected work involved for the installation, you should get it if you don't mind some extra elbow grease.

unless they've changed something drastically, you'll have more or less same problems i had encountered.

anyway, i wasn't sure if they would but sounds like they've read the thread (i'm glad). if you do get one, tell us how it works out!
