Yea I stripped the cam tower threads that hold the valve cover on ...
OK and the real problem is this ... I am too cheap to buy the helicoil kits ... costs like $30 ... and it has like 10 ... I need just 1 helicoil thing ... I have the drills and tap ... OK would need to know what tap and drill to use as well ... but if anyone can spare 1 of those little helicoil things ... I'll pay for it and shipping of course.
Cool.

Its the valve cover bolts ... its not M6 X 1.0 ... maybe M7 X 1.0 or whatever.  I should check the stores here first.
Cool.

Why don't you drill out the old thread and tap it for a larger bolt? Use a washer and put some sealant on it. I have a head that this has been done to and it works just fine.
Common sense in not very common.

The Buddha

OK then what bolt do you use ... the bolt has O rings that go under its head that are about dime sized ... a washer would work if its larger than a dime ... However I like having the steel threads ... looks like its gonna be a even cost either way now ... especially if I find 1 heli coil like I want to.
Cool.

Not sure the size of the bolt used, one size larger than stock. Basically all that was needed was to run a drill bit to clean out the rest of the stripped thread and then tap the new hole. The problem is that the bolt will not have the shoulder on it and risks over torqueing. Installing a heli coil is still the best way.
