Who says you need a 600cc Sportbike to have fun.  Video evidence that those who believe they'll get "bored" with a GS500 just lack creativity.

Your advice: Live a little -- My advice: have another rear tire on order before treating your rubber that way.

yeah, i took it off since someone on here linked the video on other board and wasted 1.4 G of bandwidth in 24 hours....i'll put it up in about 5 days if i don't run out of bandwidth for the month

Two observations.
My 77GS400(that I sold) sounds alot different from these things.

That and the sound of the 500 is quite unique.

Is doing a burnout as easy as it looks?

Grab front brake with two fingers.
Twist throttle.
Slip clutch.

First gear?
Correct?

Wheelie procedure?

Gas, clutch, yank?  No yank?

Never tried either.

GRU

thanks guys...

well i'll tell you how i do it...

burnout....squeeze front brake (i use 4 fingers) and twist throttle...about 6000 should be enough but if you want them to smoke go to 10...stand up and dump the clutch in 1st gear....try not to put any more weight on the back, just put some weight on the front tire by pushing on the bars...

wheelie....go slow, pull in the clutch, put in 1st gear, throttle a little and dump the clutch...if you want to go higher, then rev the motor a little more and dump the clutch...a lot of ppl get scared when the wheel comes up really high and they move their body close to the gastank and to the front which will bring the front wheel down, so just try to lock your arms...

Jake D

Okay.  Sounds dangerous.  I give 'er a try.

Any stoppies/nose wheelies?

ok stopies....i haven't been able to roll them with my GS but with my friends bikes which have dual rotors it's a lot easier to roll the stopies...

but the easy way to learn stopies on a gs is just to lock the brake and the back will come up...so go about 20 or 30, start braking and just before you come to a stop (maybe at 5 or 10 mph) squeeze the brake a little more ( and at the same time, lift your ass from the seat a little and put some weight on the handlebars) and then squeeze all the way almost at a dead stop...it will take some practise but you'll get it....just make sure you start doing them at slow speeds, later, when you get the feel for it, you will be able to roll them but on the gs it's really hard because of the singe rotor
