I've been out riding and a couple of times now my bike has just cut out, everything just goes off, the last time it happened i was going about 60mph then the curse hit me and all power had gone.
Does anyone know of why this could be happening. The bike is a '97 GS500 and has 18000 miles on it now.
Thanks.

plenty of gas in the tank. On a side note, would running out of gas also cut out all power? The bike cuts out, and I mean everything cuts out, no lights, nothing.

Well in that case, it sure isn't the gas. If you run out of gas the engine cuts off and won't crank back up until you get more gas, but the lights and all electrical stays on.

Battery connections tight? All electrical connections tight? Battery fluid at the right levels? Hmm, letzsee...electrical cutting out without the fuse blowin', so I doubt it'sa short, but I'm not that good at electrical troubleshooting. Goat's syndrome? Check the stator.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
