Hello Group,

I have not been around for a while, but I was wondering if the cobra pipes for the gs500 have been discontinued. I do not notice them on Cobra's site, and there appear to be very few at Dennis Kirk.  I got mine from StarCycle, and I guess I will call them tomorrow. I would like to get a spare one for my bike. Anyways, I hope everyone is well.

Well cobra sucks ... shitty quality and pricey ...
Alternative ... get this
http://stores.ebay.com/DK-Trader_Metric-Bike-Exhaust_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQpZ2QQsclZallQQsotimedisplayZ2QQtZkm

And get a flange from me $40 and shipping ... and for under $110 ... nice can and nice slip on flange.
Those cans are excellent quality and very well made. My flange is SS mid pipe, and thick steel round flange with offset hole ... welded and bolts provided. Of course non rejet option available at no extra charge ...
Cool.

Come on! I really wish you would quit putting the Cobra Slip-On down. Sure you don't like them but some of us do and have had great experience with them. I know your trying to make a few bucks pushing your mod for the Wiley Co. and I'm sure the Wiley Co. is a great can but please dude...quit knocking the Cobra can. I have one and enjoy it in every way. The quailty of if is not top shelf but it is better than stock by far and is so easy to put on a bike without makeing a special mod kit for it.
Please just quit knocking the Cobra Slip-On....

OK OK But Hey I have a cobra too courtesy Adam wade and nothing about it was right ... tinny, rattly, its got internals that are paper thin and its pointing at the wrong angle ... like blowing smoke at the rear T/S ... other than leaking all over the place. I am pushing the wileyco cos I want to make flanges and I'd have to get the wiley co's sold out ... and its great quality, better flow than the cobra and cheaper and IMHO looks better ... I mean its better in all aspects. Its the same work to fit either and rejet is an option on mine as well ... Well Yea I want it done and hence the push ... but think about it from the point of view of someone who's buying a slip on ... I dont have the big advertising or the name that people will see anywhere and know what it is. All I have is this site ... OK Its not my site but you know what I mean. Anyway I have a cobra too so I am not knocking anyone that has a cobra, I am just trying to inform people trying to buy a cobra ...
Cool.

all you want is money.  the cobra exhaust needs no jetting unlike the one you recomend to buy, which you have to cobble together a restrictor so you dont have to jet it.  buy somthing made for the gs not a cobbled together midpipe by someone who spends more time on the forum than at his job.  That is if he has one.

The Buddha

Nice one 94 ... BTW I am unemployed currently ... and OK if you do decide to rejet can you mod the cobra for higher flow ...
Anyway I dont make a restrictor ... I make a mid pipe and flange that lets you slip fit a bolt on can ... the restrictor is just a free option ... with or wihtout ... More flow or less flow ...
Cobra BTW is more pricey and harder to fit than my flange or a wileyco, and its also shittier and overall piss poor quality ... I know I have one on mine ... There is a reason why I stsrted doing this and its not money ... I stopped making it many times ... and finally I was pestered so much I started again ... You have not a clue what you're talking about ... at a minimum you need to have seen a wileyco and flange and a cobra side by side, how they are to fit and how they sound and everything before you can make a valid statement ... 1 strike against the wileyco ... only strike IMHO ... its heavy ... atleast heavier than a cobra ... almost as much as a Yosh can ... So please stay with the facts and make your argument ...
Cool.

I would go with a Wiley Co. if I could but I have my Cobra and love it. Sure the quality is not that of a Wiley Co. but I don't plan to keep my GS forever. If you plan on keeping the GS for the long haul I would recommend the Wiley Co. any day. I plan to get an SV or GSXR in a year or two.

The Buddha

Yea I know how you feel ... remember I have a cobra too ... Of all the GS specific pipes ...slip on or full system ... The one and only one That I have seen that getts a passing grade IMHO is a Yosh ... The rest are all IMHO not worth it ... Now adapting somehting else to fit a GS ... whole new ball game ... In that what I believe scores highest is that D&D Jetswing sent me for flangeing up ... beautiful, great finish, great sound, and light and solidly made all at the same time ... The Wileyco is heavier but high quality ... and For the cost cant beat it ... we modify stuff for our purpose ... cos no one makes anything for the GS ... soon we'll be a self sustaining bunch ... trinkets like airbrush's key chain/belt buckle       , or flanges or BobB's advancer or Dgyver/JamesG's fairing ... we just need more people trying to make a perfect fit of a round peg in a square hole ... no problem ... The first thing we need to do though is identify the deficient areas ... saying what isn't really good as "Oh well it fits a GS" is killing that inventive spirit. We dont take no for an answer, and heck we dont even take yes for an answer ...
Cool.
