My bike just finished break in and was pretty doughy under 4. Is it broken in yet?? Over 7 it really starts to hum

aslam

Yeah I think it's normal.  My bike almost bogs down in protest if I give it a huge burst of gas under 4k.

ASLAM.

just guessing, but i think a timing advance would help out in the lower rpm's. :dunno:     see the diy timing advance on this site :)

Hi-T

Yeah - push the timing forward and it helps, so will changing the gearing with the sprockets.  Rejetting, a fresh valve job and a carb sync will also help - especially if you have some extra miles on the bike.

The biggest improvement I made was with the jet/air filter/full vance and hines.

That's about all you can do without digging deeper into the motor.

Ok Aslam, what have you done to the bike...
The basic diagnosis is... if you open the throttle fast and it falls on its face, but open throttle slowly and it behaves = Slide lifting too fast.
Shut 1 hole in bottom of slide.
Cool.

Under 4k rpm? What's that?

The only gear I'm under 4k rpm in is first. You shouldn't use any gear under 4k except first. Cause it bogs down and you don't get power.

Yeah I had the same thing.   Put some little cone thing in the airbox and it fixed it.  Only happens now when the bike is cold
