So when I change the clip on my needle to adjust and see which setting give me the most power should I do it when bike is warm? Example:  warmed up bike came back to garage and changed needle height and went back out with bike still warm.

Reason I ask is because the instruction say to look for a change in bike from cold to warm.  So if I select best when warm it might run bad when cold and I need to change it so that it runs equal.  At least that is the way I understand the instructions.

OK I jet everything on the coldest day of the year, I also jet it to run about the same whether the bike is cold or warm ... having said that ... You're likely and supposed to build decent temperature in the motor before you get anywhere out of Pilot jet territory ... The basic deal is ... it should run fine by the time you get to using it ... I guess warm then for needle. I also like to set the idle just slightly lean ... The reason being ... the idle being rich will cause it to not idle when hot, and will cause it to not start at an extreme case if its hot. Just a shade lean. Idling 1100 when cold and 1200 or so if warm ... In any case warm trial of needle should leave you correctly jetted ... cos it will never be cold when you get it on the needle ...
Cool.
