mirror questions

ok so i found some new mirrors. they are just like the stock ones but shorter. i have a choice of black or chrome. being that the arm is shorter it will also make the two mirrors narrower or closer together.  here is an example picture.  my question is will these be functional considering they are closer together? will it be to narrow to see behind me?

Well first of all i would get that gouge in your tire, and the right fork fixed  :lol:

you mean the LEFT fork, Edub. Always from the riders/drivers perspective.


Are the stock mirrors useful now? IF so the new ones might only be inconvenient to use. If the stockers are inconvenient (view of your shoulder/elbow?) then the shorter ones will be useless.

If the stock ones are useless, might as well go with the shorter ones.  They will look better and will be equally as useless.  Maybe bar end mirrors?

Maybe if you move your elbow out you'll be able to see under your elbow with the shorter mirrors.

besides the violent vibration which causes blur, the stock ones work just fine.  i usually have them adjusted so i see the edge of my arm and the rest is the road behind me.  

here is another example picture.  this is an aerial shot of the bike with the top of the picture being the front of the bike.   the blue dotted lines are my line of vision or whatever u call it.  if i have to angle the new mirror away so i dont see myself will i only be able to see the side of the road?

Whatever mirrors you have and however you position them they wont be perfect there will always be a blindspot. Fit what you are happy with, when using the mirrors move your head and body to get the best angles, your body language will convey a message to the more alert motorist that you are about to make a move, also dont forget the lifesaver over your shoulder.

I think the new mirror will make it nearly impossible to see behind you. Think about putting your face where the mirror is; the farther you are from the center of the bike, the more you will be able to see.

I use little stick-on convex mirrors to increase my view behind.
