Question on tires...

Well it's getting time to get new tires for my 04GS, and i'm really not sure what to go with.  Has anyone here had any experience with the Metzler M1's or the Pirelli Demon Sport?  
Most of my riding is in the N Ga mtns, in the twisties, and some local roads.
Is there any specific tire out there that just performs great on the GS, or is it more of a personal preference?

I've had good luck with the Bridgestone BT45's myself, but I deal with a lot of rainy wet conditions, so I chose a better tread for water.

By the way, I go camping in your neck of the woods pretty often, usually around the Helen, Ga. area.   Beautifull country up there.

Yes, it is beautiful up there.   We ride around Helen,  hate to go thru there in season   , way too much traffic, lol.
I currently have the BT45's, came on the bike.  I have not had any problems with them to this point, but being a newb, I didn't know if there may be a different tire out there for it.

the BT45 is the tire of choice on this site...
some other choices are
Pirelli Demon Sport
Avon AV 45/46 (smallest size is 140/80/17 for rear)
Avon AM51/52 (i have these...and they are very good tires...)
Metzler ME330/550

I just put a set of Sport Demons on my bike about 100 miles ago. They really changed the personality of it. Everything from corners to road irregularities is vastly improved. Highly recommended! Regardless of what you decide to get, make sure you "scrub" them in first.

I went with BT45s on my 93' because I just needed to change the front (the previous owner replaced the rear only and it had ~1000 miles on it) and I was told that the BT45s would match the stock tires (older bikes have wonderful the Excedras for stock tires :lol:) better than anything else I was willing to pay for.

The funny thing is that I ended up getting a rear bt45 for a really good price. So now I'm gonna have 2 new tires when I ride again. As soon as the snow melts and I get around to getting new gear...

The guy I buy tires from highly reccomended the sport demons. That's what I'm planning on for my next set of tires.

I have these Michelin Pilot Activ's and love them, they are fantastic tyres on any surface wet or dry and have made my riding much  more enjoyable from the OEM tyres i previously had.

Couldn't be happier with the Avon AV45 in front and AV46 in back.

the stock 04 comes with BT45's, so you can go with those.

I just got some Metzler Z6's, Im putting them on this weekend.   Cant wait.

If you want a great road tire to ride hard and corner well, go with the Pirelli Sport Demons.  They are a little less of a touring tire than a BT45, but not quite a full street tire.  I love them on mine, and they last very well.

The M1's are a pretty soft tire. Excellent traction but you will sacrifice life. I am planning on putting them on my TL, unless I get a good deal on Pilot Powers. With an expected life of 3000-4000 miles, I will be replacing the rear a couple of time this year.
