Anyone ever heard of this? I heard about it in passing a LONG time ago. I am searching the web now and theres a few tips, I am just wondering if anyone has ever used this technique before?

I have tried it with no success. A lot will depend on the location and type of dent.
Common sense in not very common.

well my buddy works at a body shop and i gave him my tank with 2 dents in it...he used a dent puller but the one that welds a rod on the metal and then pulls it out...i got the tank back yesterday and it looks perfect...
just go to a body shop and have them pull out the dents

Check out this thread, I recently used one of those ding king 20 dollar dent removal pullers, and it worked really well-to my pleasant surprise! I have links to pictures in the thread...

I have heard people swear by dry ice and I have also heard people say it doesn't work. I think I am gonna try it, I'll be no worse off than I was before.

The dents not creased and if I could reach a finger down in there, I could probably pop it out. Some of the online resources say it will work on steel but not aluminum. Below is a pic of the dent.

I'll take pics of the process and report on how it worked.

yeah it's teeny and shallow. But if a few bucks and dry ice may get rid of it then it's worth a shot.

Now if I could just figure out how to straighten the frame on my GS...

Stolen, ran from cops, and wrecked.

That was the ONLY time that bike had ever been on it's side. I am original owner and still have it, I just need a titled frame. The guuy that stole it had a pocket full of drugs too. Since a crime was committed on it, it was in impound for 18 months as evidence.

Yeah, 268 bucks restitution, that was my insurance deductable, the Ins. Co. totaled the bike. I could have either taken the bike or got 2k from the ins co to make a down pyment on another one.

I kept the bike. The only thing wrong was the bent frame and the need for a new wiring harness. in all honesty, I garaged it and forgot about it for about 8 years. It wasn't until recently that I started getting the Itch REAL bad.

I was gonna buy a frame and move the rest of the parts over to it, I am just have a Buddha Loves You of a time locating one with a title. My wife finally said screw it buy a damn bike, so I got the EX500 last weekend.

The GS is still my sweetie though. I plan on having it running by this time next year and giving the EX to my wife. I just with I could find a POS basket case GS with a title for a few hundred bucks.

I want to powdercoat it, put an undertail exhaust and the full Aluizio body kit on it. Katana front end, Bandit rear wheel, and the GSX-R750 rear suspension and pegs.

Sorry, I started rambling... <sigh>

frames aren't...Titled frames are though. Like I said, I need to find a GS here in texas that I can pick up for a few hundred bucks. Once I get it, it will just be a matter of weeks before it's up and running...Getting it where I want it will take quite a bit more.

I am budgeting about 3 grand total to get the bike where I want it, I just need the damn frame...lol.

why not just sell your parts and get a complete bike to save the hassel...

if your budget is 3G to fix it up...you'll find a used one in GOOD condition for sure...even a 01+...

Sentimental reasons, mainly. That was the first vehicle I bought on my own. I know it sounds insane, but the bikes perfectly fine, with the exception of the bent frame.

I want a project that I can build over a few weeks with my kids in the garage. I have 2 boys, 9 and 12 and a 13 year old daughter. They love the bikes and would love to work on it.

i totally understand the sentinmental thing man. i have a 96 that i wrecked twice, same thing, insurance salvage deal, then i let it sit, and ive already put $1k into a 40k mileage bike, for not good reason other than it being my first. it's even hard to paint the damn thing, i feel ridiculous..

The Buddha

Odd you guys are ... Its a freaking bike ... Not a person ... nothing but a mass of steel, aluminum, rubber and plastic and whatever else they put in these things over in japan ... I made a deal to sell the thing and the clown that was buying it came to his senses or maybe the weed wore off ... and backed out ... Oh crap ... Its fun but, if it blows up its scrap metal ... ok I'll part it off and what is left I'll toss in the scrap pile ... You're all a bunch of girls ... Well probably some of Y'all are ... but the rest of y'all are as well ... Dont mistreat it, but dont put it on a pedestal either ...
Cool.

i am so attached to my vehicles it's insane.  First or last... I love em all... and treat them all like gold.

my g/f's hate me for it... lol.....

It's tough to 'splain. I still have my first car that needs an engine and tranny. It's a Fiat X-19. I got it at 16. That was 14 years ago. they may be inanimate objects, but they have a special spot in my life and I am not willing to just replace it. That just doesn't feel right to me.

Doubt that dry ice will work on that dent. Too sharp. A paintless dent removal service may have good luck with it. Dents on the side, like yours, are easier for them to remove since they have very limited access through the gas cap.

Here is the last dent I used dry ice on without success. Heating up the area first should help.

Common sense in not very common.
