two questions -- rear shock replacement

Question #1: so over the winter I acquired a Kat600 rear shock. I understand that this is an easy install, won't raise the rear of the bike too much (no sidestand modification necessary, right?), and it was cheap. So far so good. Now, is there a tutorial out there for installing the thing? I got the idea and info from places like GS500Power and Pablo's site, but now that I'm ready to install, I can't find detailed instructions. Did I see them before? Was I dreaming? Does anyone have any pointers?

Question #2: Anyone have any idea what happened to beginnerbikes.com? That was a good community.

thanks

The kat600 shock swap should be a simple bolt in. There is more information at Pantablo's Site but I found it a bit confusing. Your best bet might be to use a Clymer Manual or something similar (Haynes, etc.) If you don't have one, please buy one here because it helps support this site.

Here is a post about why beginnerbikes.com was shut down. It is too bad. That was the first motorcycle site that I ever posted on, but I posted here more once I bought my gs.

Wow, just did an hour or two of reading posts all over the web about the demise of BB.com. That is really, really a damn shame. I saw some warning signs in the fall but didn't think the place would disappear. There seem to be a LOT of BB refugees (7,000+ by some accounts) scrambling across the web, but I doubt a resource like that will manifest again.

I also have been spending more time on this board than that one, but I'm still sorry to see it go. I wouldn't be riding safely if not for it; I wouldn't be riding a GS if not for it; I wouldn't be riding at all if not for it. Oh well.

And thanks John, I think your site is what I was thinking of. That (and the clymer manual I have somewhere around here) should be what I need.
