Thank you to those who helped me out last time -your advice worked brilliantly! I've got another problem now -the battery isn't charging itself. The bike goes fine, but I have to charge the battery every night. How can I check whether it's the alternator or the wiring (I have a multimeter, but am not sure which setting to put it on)?

Thank you in advance,
Reuben.

It may be a bad battery. If you put a multimeter across the battery with the bike running it should be 13-14 volts. If it does the charging system is o.k.

Put the multimeter on DC volts, if it has a scale setting put it on 20V or greater.

The reading at the battery at 5000 rpm should be between 13.5 and 15.5 (according to the Suzuki manual).
