Lift up your seat and there is a label near the battery that tells you.

Look about 1/4 of the way down this Haynes manual page.

Should be a plate on the frame below the tank with this info, it gives max values.

im going out on a limb here but its better to check the actual tire itself for the PSI if available.  that way there is no chance you'll get the wrong number

I think the bike placards give the correct pressure for the OEM tires.  If you change to different tires your on your own.

The tire just shows max. load and pressure. Not what is best for any particular bike.

thats good to know. i just checked the manual and it states 33 as proper psi for front tire.  which is 8lbs less than what the max load is.  im gonna go let some air out now

Here's a slightly clearer shot of a VIN plate like callmelenny posted.  Like he said, it just shows maximum pressures -- as part of the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) derivation.

And here's the sticker with more specific info.  (On my '99 it's on the left swingarm rather than under the seat ):

Generally, and take care about generalisations, the recomendations are bike specific rather than tyre specific, so unless your particular tyre slaps you and says otherwise follow the plate, usually on the swingarm.
