I had the same problem.  It was an electical plug underneath the seat that woudl vibrate and not make a good connection.  I can get some pics here in a second.  I just cleaned the plug and sprayed it with corrosion x and it hasnt given me trouble ever since.  Happened about 200o miles ago.

Had this problem before. Traced it to a corroded plug in the wire harness. Ended up cleaning all of the connections in the harness and added some electrical grease to prevent this from happening again.
Common sense in not very common.

here is a picture of the plug.  it is what caused my problem, maybe yours too.

ok this is what u do. go into the folder where all the pictures are on photobucket.  u will see 3 text feilds under each picture.  to directly hotlink the photos onto this page, chose the one with the [IMG ] tag.  copy and paste directly into the post.

Thats a pretty big image. You can make it smaller using IrfanView or a similar tool.

Your tag is also incomplete, but who hasn't done that?

Here is a link to the picture

If you want to link to the picture instead, use something like this:

PS - I like how the centerstand and the footpeg and the ground are in sharp focus....    (I'm just joshing ya;  the close-up focus problem happens to me ALL the time.  :x )

I was thinking the same thing...

Suzigirl - try not so much choke and after 10 seconds give it a little throttle to get the rpm's up to about 3000; hold it there for about 10 more seconds and while still holding the throttle, add some choke (but not full choke); then ease off the throttle to see if the bike will hold 3000rpm.

The addition of choke is to add enough gas to help seal the rings to bump up compression and get the bike to start; or keep it running, in this case.

I think this may be from a combination of things:
1. We fiddle with our idle adjustment screw; so when the bike is cold, it is set too low, and when the bike get warm, it's too high. We compensate for the low setting by using the throttle to keep the rpm's up when it's cold.
2. With too much choke for too long a time, we may be fouling our plugs.
3. Battery is getting old or weak.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
