Its whats used to handle 35mm film for movies.

This is a particularly funky one though. Its and endless loop system, so the start of the film is spliced to end, creating a 10 thousand foot loop of 35mm film(about a 2 hour movie). So if you dont stop it the movie would just keep looping.

That big chunk of black stuff is the actually film that you see at movie theatre. The rest of it is what handles the film that feeds it to the projector. which would be off to the left
