Anyone got a good recomendation on a tank bag?  I just want something to throw a bit of gear into, maybe a chage of underwear for close calls with 18wheelers,  :o you  know, the usual.

Search the board for "tank bag".  You'll find what you need.  ;)

I have an Oxford 1, lower end of the price range, excellent quality loads of bits and bobs as extras, double rain covered map pocket plus can also be configured like a small hand or shoulder carries holdall or a backpack.

Some people have issues with magnets but I have never had any problems.

I'm a big fan of Nelson-Rigg stuff.  very rugged, and I got a great deal on mine at www.gforcecycles.com

I owned a Tourmaster tank bag once.  Decent product, but I thought the zippers were a little on the flimsy side... though to its credit they never did fail while I owned it.

I don't fully trust magnetic bags, but they are a lot easier to use.  I have a tourmaster bag it was about $50 new it expands and has a map window and two small side pockets and one tiny side pocket.  I've packed a full change of clothes and a snack in it for an overnight trip.  I have matching saddlebags, and between the tankbag and them I packed for about a 9 day trip to N. GA.  It was summer, so I didn't need much clothing, and besides all the big stuff like riding gear and helmet was on me.

i've got an icon "urban" tank bag that suits my needs perfectly.  it's magnetic, has a map compartment and a good deal of space.  i can fit an entire change of clothes (including shoes) in it and still have room for hygiene products.  when i first got it i tested the magnets by loading it up with soup cans and taking on some curves...didn't move an inch.  also, it converts into a backpack off the bike with a sling to hold your helmet.  pretty handy. :thumb:

I just did a quick review of my new tank bag at this post:
Quote from: roguegeekSo I got in my Icon Primer Pack yesterday and have some initial thoughts to share.

First thing I noticed, it's tiny. Maybe 10" long by 8" wide by 6" high. The magnets are strong (at least definitely strong enough to hold what the capacity is). Then I got a little surprised. I was able to fit in it my tinted shield for my helmet, my digital camera in a very secure camera case, a beanie, my iPod in a shielded case (so that I don't demagnetize the hard drive), and a couple other things with a decent amount of room for some other odds and ends. I went off riding with it. Perfect. It's way out of the way. In fact, I don't even notice it's there. This fulfills my first questions perfectly.
QuoteWhat would be the best type of storage used (backpack, tank bag, tail bag, etc...) when priority is the bike performance and my ability to ride it? I would want carry a smaller load at this time.
So initially, I just couldn't be happier. Things may change as time goes by, but I don't really see it happening. Now I just need to get an answer for my second question.
QuoteWhat would be the best type of storage used (backpack, tank bag, tail bag, etc...) when priority is the more storage, the better? I would still want the bike and myself to perform well, but I want to carry more with this type of setup.
