Doing a classic "Burnout"...tips would be

I know i'm too old for this but in any case...anyone have any advice on doing a simple classic burnout..??  It's about the only silly thing i'm willing to learn on a bike.  Who knows...some day i may be fleeing from danger or possibly       a simple argument with my fiance and i need some manner of making a dramatic exit which somehow involves burning rubber, screeching sounds and skid marks (not involving underwear)

Tips would be appreciated....i'll also take advice... :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

Well, the first thing you should know about doing a proper burnout  is that you must be wearing freakishly tight, ass-hugging white jeans and sport either a mullet or a John Oates-styled haircut.

I like the pic! I burnout sometimes. It's not *too* bad on your tire if you don't go too long, although I do need a new rear tire after only 6k miles...

Hold your front break tight and accelerate using the clutch and the throttle. That's it, really. My tires have never screeched while doing a burn-out, they just smoke a lot. I did one today while i was stuck in traffic with this other bike. It was fun.

heh heh...you guys are dating yourselves...i remember the 80's and man did i have a good time...Hall n Oates hair and everything...i hated the shaved sideburns...close cropped side-head..pseudo mohawk/ponytail look...hey what was this post about...ahh yes....Burnouts.

 The video was quite neat but it tells me nothing about how to do it...unless i zoom up real close i suppose.  Hey...the 80's love fest can continue but in the meantime advice would be cool..

stand up off seat, pull in clutch, hold front brake, push down on handle bars, twist throttle (dont know how much on a gs but id assume quite a bit) release clutch quickly but smoothly, keep bike upright or it will kick out to the side and spit you off

or if u want to do it the right way while going 10mph grab alot of front brake and lean forward with your butt off the seat and standing on the pegs. pull in the clutch and rev her up then let out the clutch smoothly and quickly. steer by slight turning of the front wheel but using weight on the pegs as the biggest guide

this is how it works on a 6r with significantly more hp
never felt a need on the gs because an aircooled engine seems like it would get mighty hot, dont want to waste the rubber, if i dropped a nice bike i would be upset

also how do this guy's handle helmet hair? I have my hair short because I just can't deal with the crazy ( )hair when ever I take my helmet off?

Heat kills tires and burnouts cause heat!

Why do you think race tires which still appear to have a good amount of rubber are no longer raced on?  If you over heat a tire it will change how the tire will ride.

both are streetfightered out with the raised tail section....which i don't ...get

Ouch, man. Anyone else mess up a burn out? I can just imagine what might go wrong if you screw it up - your baby GS popping out from underneath you and getting nutted by the tail. I thought about trying it but I'm just too nervous.

the turned up tail helps with comfortable wheelies, kinda like a wacked out solo mod.

If you absolutely MUST do a burn out, wait till your just about to change your tire anyway.  thay way when you harden the rubber to the point it's useless and stretch your chain out you'll be addressing both problems during the tire change.

also, if you are nervouse about the bike shooting out from underneath you, do like those idiots did, brace the front tire against something. i'd pick something other than another idiot, maybe a wall.

Don't get me wrong, i've done a few smoky burnouts in my days, but never on a tire/chain combo I was planning to keep using.

they do it so when your riding a wheelie the seat is in the standard level positiion

So when your doing a circle burnout and you burn the shaZam! out of your leg, do you stop the burnout right away, or keep going?  :lol:

And I like the raised tail.  And I'm not even British. . .They've mastered the look over there.  But I don't like tea and strumpets.
