Relocating the subframe??

the SS bikes look so damn good with the tail hiked way up in the air.  has anyone tried cutting off the subframe and welding it back on at a higher angle?  any thoughts on how that could affect handling/riding comfort? would changing the length of the dogbones (like the opposite of lowering the bike for smaller riders) give the same effect?  this seems like a neat idea, possibly just to show off a nice undertail/rear end or maybe to make room for an underseat exhaust( :thumb: ).

I thought about cutting the GS subframe and welding on a R6 subframe with tail and seat...but it'll be LOTS of work

i was thinking maybe cutting it off, then taking a chunk out of the top rails of the subframe, and then when it went back on it would stick up more.

it could work...
but it'll look weird...

imo Those bikes suck. Someone put a ton a awesome work  into an orange one. I am sure we have all seen it. He has some pretty good fab skills, and he did a great job on it. It just looks dumb with the rear of the bike pointing at the sky. I mean I wouldn't mind getting a little more air between the tire and the seat but there are better ways of accomplishing it. To me I guess it makes a bike look pretty squidy. Give me some furry cow pants and a nice t-shirt then away I go! I guess to each his own.

Put a longer rear shock on it, that will help and its not that labor intensive.

the problem with swaping the gs shock with a longer one to raise the back is it changes the fork angle or rake...so riding would be different

cutting the subframe at the lower point and inserting a piece of metal would work but you would have to do some work to the seat and maybe even fairing...wouldn't be that hard but if i did that, i would just swap the whole subframe with another bike or build my own custom subframe
