This is for those that use the Photo Gallery to host pics and add links or the pics directly in your posts.

1. Upload the pic in the gallery as normal.
2. Select the picture you wish to link or show.
3. With your mouse right click on the picture.
4. Select "Properties" at the bottom of the pop-up box.
5. Highlight the Address (URL) link with the cursor.
6. Copy the link to your clipboard. This can be done with your mouse via another right click and select "Copy" from the pop-up box or use your keyboard by holding "Ctrl" & "C" at the same time.
7. Go to the post you are working on.
8. Insert the link in your message either with the mouse right click and select "Paste" from the pop-up box or use your keyboard by holding "Ctrl" & "V" at the same time.

WARNING: DO NOT select the address at the top of your browser to use as the link! It may change as soon as someone else uploads a picture!

If the link looks like this then it is wrong:  :nono:

It must look like this:   :thumb:

Yep - nice write up!   :thumb:

But before everybody starts uploading random pics to the Gallery, be sure to review john's guidelines in this post.  From what he said I gather that member mugs, member bikes and scenery are the only sanctioned pic types at this point.

Anyone care to approach "that man behind the curtain" and ask him for clarification on general hosting?

Not sure what you mean  :dunno:  I don't want the gallery to become a wasteland.  I want to keep it focused on the three categories.  Now if there is a mod pic or something that somebody really feels it should be shared then put it in the member bikes section and label what it is ect.  and I'm cool with that :)

Is that what you were asking?

ps.  Didn't anybody record the world superbike Qatar races.  Darnet, I need a copy!

Sorry - my wife tells me I can be too subtle (and therefore unclear) at times.

Mine was a weak attempt to (humorously) compare our Benevolent Site Admin with the Wizard of Oz.  Outwardly he may appear terrifying and unapproachable, but he's really a nice guy.  So, I was asking if anybody dared to ask john if what I said was truly the case (about the 3 picture types) or ... could we ...  :o ... post other stuff.

I think you're wise to keep it "tight".  The post I linked to wasn't super explicit, so I'm glad you spelled it out more completely.  :thumb:

I agree that the members should not abuse the hosting abilities here and limit the use to specific topics. I posted this how-to since I have seen several threads with links that ended up getting broken after new pics are uploaded. Personally I prefer to use another hosting service which helps to limit the bandwidth on the site.
