I want to keep it at about the stock riding position.  Just wondering if someone makes a bar that will fit and  is close to the same position.

Thanks

There was a post about a GS for sale recently and the kid selling it has some Renthal dirt bike handlebars that looked pretty close to the original riding position(and looked really cool too, that the City X Buell).  Find that thread, and you're one step closer.

Not stock but definitely better. I would recommend them but it depends on the type of riding you do.

I like to sit more upright most of the time.  I'm a wuss and leaning over that much makes my back hurt.

well, just get a straight bar. but that would take the bars down about 2inches. in all honesty, what would be the point if u want the same riding position? :dunno:

For a while I was looking for the same thing. I talked to a member who had replaced his handlebars with some bikemaster bars and thought they were pretty similar to stock. I think they were on the order of $35, but I could be remembering wrong.

I never bought a set becuase mine aren't bent that badly and I think I can fix them with a nice section of pipe and an able assistant.

Thanks

When I worked a a Cycling Shop we sold a lot of Mountian Bike Downhill bars for people to put on there bikes.  There is a slight differency in the OD of the tubes but with a shim they work great.  I think people did this due to the low cost and the hug range of sizes.

How would those hold up in a crash though? I'd worry about snapping them off or something. Just what I want in my hand while flying thru the air, a sharp pointy object with a hand grip on it...

P.S.  Kerry? are you bored tonight? you're spellchecking...

just a couple of days ago i installed a set of CR High bend "Moose" brand bars. same production company as renthal, for much less price.

for the notches i marked the holes with a marker when holding the bars next to the stockers, and used a dremel to cut the notches. WORKED GREAT!!!

The GOOD:
i feel more comfortable on the bike now, and can dive harder into a turn.

The BAD:
loss of bar end weights makes the front seem a little nimble when at high speed. i'm thinking a steering dampener might be a good idea.

For anyone considering this, you had better be ready for a BIG change! The bars are further forward, wider and will feel a little awkward the first few miles of riding. If you think you can cut the bars down to narrow them up a bit... you might want to think again. the controls are pushing all the way to the point where the bars begin to taper down. best bet would be measure twice before cutting!

hope it helps!
