anyone with GS500f have the woodcraft clip-ons on their bike? im curious as to whether or not they will fit ok without hitting the fairings or the tank, also assuming they do fit, can the top part of the triples (the silver thing in the picture that holds the tubular bars) be removed?

im guessing it can right from pictures of the GS500R conversion

thanks in advance

That is not wood craft ... That brazilian clip on set ... OK check with dolepineapple ... he sent me pics few weeks ago ... really cheesy and I was afraid it might scratch up the forks or not work/grip too well ... or both ...

are you saying the woodcraft ones are cheesy or the brazilian ones? im aware the one in the bottom pic is not woodcraft i was just comparing the top silver part that holds the tubular bars, im new to the board...im not really sure who dolepineapple is...i guess i'll pm him anyways thanks

The Buddha

The pic is Brazilian ... and that's what I refered to in my post ...
BTW I make clip on's hence the post ... I'll send you a pic after I get the lot back from the powder coating guys. Mine are 6061 block that clamps on the forks and steel handles. They are $60 and shipping. I'll put up a pic soon ...

yup...you'll have to remove the aluminum clamp that the stock ones are bolted to...just removed mine yesterday. You'll probably want to fabricate another plate to cover up the triple in its place. And you'll need to slide the forks up in the clamps a bit for the clip ons.

what is the reason for sliding up the forks? wouldn't that lower the front end of the bike + lowering ground clearance?

airbrush

you'll probably have to slide the tubes up a bit in the clamps so your clip ons are fully on the forktubes to clamp around and yes it will lower the front end slightly.

who has removed the handlebar holder/ triple cover thing in order to mount clip-ons?  anyone made a custom cover? have any pics?

:edit: Oh yeah, and what length bars are you using in your clip-ons, 9" or 11"??
