Last summer I put about 4,000 miles on this back tire and it looks bad already. Some advice to the newbies: don't get cheap tires! This one was like $35, called Barracuda. I still got tread on the sides, but the center lane is flat as a, um, uh...flat as something really flat is. I was expecting more of the 6-8,000 mile longevity. Dang. How much longer can I ride on it?

My OEM tire has about 5800 miles on it and the center strip is pretty much bald. I'm sure it would be like 100 bucks to replace. I'd rather pay 35 and get 4k than pay 100 for OEM or some such and only get 1500 more.

I've been using the Michelin Macadam100 radials on the rear for about three years now and get about 10,000 km (roughly 6,000 miles) out of one before they are worn sufficiently on the edges to affect the handling.  I have not worn one to the legal limit yet, much less bald.
BTW, good tyres are not just about cost.  They are about safety.

double check your wheel alignment front to rear, that could be an issue. i liked the barracuda's on my 82750E hated 18" rear and 19 front
