are they still available brand new? if yes where?
another question regards to the vance & hines full system...so i've been reading the headers must be removed to change the oil filter is this true? will the stock headers bolt on to the vance & hines can? and also i've read somewhere before that when you remove the headers you need new gaskets or else your exhaust will leak...so does that mean every time i change the oil filter i'll need new gaskets? sorry for all the newbie question im seriously considering buying a gs500 as it seems to be a really good bike but i just want to know a bit more about it, thanks in advance

Never bought a V&H or a Yosh ... But I have had GS'es that I bought with both ...
My .02 ... very lopsided ... cos I make slip on fit adapters AKA flanges to fit Wileyco on the stock headers ... so here goes ...
V&H - Yea headers have to come off for oil change, but the gasket thing OK not really true ... Of course more you take it off more often you need to swap out gaskets ... but not really everytime ... On quality - the can is fine and light, but the headers are so cheesy shitty material ... they rust 10  mins after you paint them, and they will never stop rusting ... I had one that nearly blew a hole ... bad bad bad ...
Yosh - Same on taking off for oil change and gasket, on quality can is heavier and better than V&H and the pipe is better for rusting than V&H ... not great, just better ... The stock headers still have both them beat by a mile ...
My opinion ... as much stainless steel as you can get, and if there has to be steel ... it should be thick ... Wiley co is stainless can, my pipe is stainless and adapter plate is thick steel ... Its not a full system though, and no need to take off for oil change.
Cool.

I don't have to take off my yoshi slip-on to change the oil. The slip on joins the stock pipe downstream of the 2-1 joint.

Yoshi no longer makes pipes for the GS. You might be able to find one used, though. V&H still make systems for the GS

OK, I read this again and I missed this.

They might have made other things at one point, but I'm pretty sure that V&H only makes the full system for the GS anymore.

If you're looking for something other than a full system, it seems like sirinath's flange + wileyco would be a good way to go. I don't have any personal experience with them, but no one has had anything but good things to say about it.

Currently you can get either vance&hines or Jardine for full systems. Yoshi doesn't make one anymore. I found a yoshi full system on e-bay, but it wasn't pretty. I bought it anyway, and am using it for now. But I'll probably get a new Vance & Hines system or fabricate a slip-on to my stock headers sometime this summer.
