Found a new motorcycle (TL1000s)

Some guy around here is hurting for money and selling a hunter green 1997 TL1000s with only 10,000 miles.  He said he woudl take $3200 for it.  I am going to the bank tomorrow to see if I can get the cash for it.  I am probably going to keep riding the GS most of the time for the rest of this year.  When it I saw it in the paper it was just too good of a deal to pass up, so I figured I would get it for future use.  

Anybody know of any concerns with the TL1000s.  It already has the steering damper installed.

the older ones have a bad computer that is mapped weird and makes the bikes hard to run and stall by themselves sometimes.  I dont know the years but a factory suzuki guy told me about it.  you might want to check into this before you put money down.

The 97 has the unrestricted ECU. They changed it in 98 to reduce power in lower gears. There are also several other issues with the TLS. The mount for the rear shock damper and the steering head weld to the frame have both been known to crack. I believe there have been recalls on these. There was a fuel pump gasket recall as well. Yeah that is the TRE mod i believe.. the fix tricks the bike into thinking its in 6th gear all the time.. that way the timing isnt messed up in the first three gears..

I wish i could get a TLR...i love those things...

My insurance is way too high though :x

There was another issue...the early TLS's came with a 5-spring clutch which unless shimmed with washers, it may slip. Later they were changed to 6-spring.
