I've been having to do some repair work to our Wrangler YJ and it just made me want to post a reminder about PB Blaster, a really great solvent in a can that helps with corroded fasteners. I've got some really stubborn bolts in the 4-wheel drive vacuum shift mechanism and I had to go out and get some PB because all my tools are at my Brother's place since we sold the shop. I've used the PB for years and I just can't say how great it is. This is one tool everyone should keep around. What kind of special tools does anyone else keep on hand that would be a neat addition to solve stubborn, difficult mechanical problems? Oh, little GS500 and the GStwin forum...how I love you both.

I love that stuff too

I first encountered PB Blaster in the marine engine world where the mechanics I knew called it Weasel Piss.

I recently found the perfect little screwdriver for adjusting the air mixture screw on the carbs while the bike is running. It came in a $2 eyeglass repair kit and fits under the carbs easily and is easier to use than a right angle screwdriver.

along those lines.... the BEST screwdriver for that you can buy from sears... it's a fingertip screwdriver thing...  theres about 3 to a kit... and works awesome.

Hm...I just use the tip of one of those screwdrivers with the interchangable tips.

Yeh, I have several different eye-glass screw-drivers lying around waiting to be called to duty. Everyone should have a set of scribes too. I don't mean the people who stand around taking down your every spoken word, but the slender picks with various pointed and hooked ends that make otherwise tedious jobs, such as o-ring removal, a breeze. I have an old set of dental tools also which come in handy from time to time. Love the little vertical twin and its forum.

Old dental picks work great. Ask your dentist for his old ones that they don't use anymore or are going to throw away.

An impact driver (the kind that you hit with a hammer) is great for freeing stuck screws, especially those slippery phillips heads.

One of my impact drivers is over thirty years old and still works just like new. It's a craftsman wouldn't you know. Love the Baby bike and this forum.
