WHEW! What a night!

I started on the GS about 9:30 pm or so...got done at 3 am.....

Me and a buddy tackled some fun stuff:

Replace fork seals, bleed front and rear brakes, adjust and tweek little stuff.

I went to pull the fork brace off.....and got hung up for two hours.

TIP: YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE FORK BRACE IF THE STUPID ghey ALLEN BOLTS STRIP, AND YOU CANT GET IT OFF... ITS OK.. YOU CAN STILL CHANGE THE SEALS.

Ahem..ok...

SO anyways, After giving up on that, i took off the fender, wheel, caliper etc, loosened the trees, took off the forks as a single peice.

I followed Bob Broussards post to the T.. that man is THE MAN. He is always right on :thumb: .

I did not need to use a special tool, because i left the springs in there while i loosened the bottom bolt. That was the easiest part of the install.

I basically drained out the poison toxic waste sludge that was in there, sounded like a toilet flushing when you pump them...

I put the stock springs back in, no oil.. yet...  I am waiting on the progressives to get here..

The hard part is putting them back on as a pair... its next to impossible..you are fighting against yourself. We ended up finally braking loose the other allen bolt on the fork brace, and separating them... then all was good.

Then we bled the crappy sludge from the brake system... front and rear... and MAN that is crazy now... the brakes work so good. Best ever actually.

So, now i am just waiting on the Progressives to get here from MAW... and i have to put a crank seal in...but... my seals look AWESOME!

Thanks to everyone who ever posted how to on that job. I didnt even use my clymer once! :nana:

OH and just so anyone who needs to bleed their brakes knows....

We used a DRINKING STRAW and a small peice of hose around it... to bleed them...worked fine! I cut up a deer park water jug, and used it as a catch can. OMG it worked too good

Ooh, one of those bendable, crinkly ones!? Cool! So you can angle it directly into your catch can?! Sweet!
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
