OK, a few of you were interested in Scorpion helmets and wanted me to post how I liked mine.  Well, it came today from terra-powersports who was the lowest price I could find.  EXO-400 solid $125 including shipping.  Took about a week to go across the country from CA.

First off, it looks very nice.  Paint is perfect, fit and finish perfect too.  There are 4 vents that can be closed.  When you look at it from the bottom you think "how am I going to get my head in that small opening".  There is tons of soft padding all along the neck opening.  Padding also goes up into the cheek area and is held off the inside of the helmet at the top of the head.  It's suspended like a hardhat.  It uses a double D clasp and the entire area of the strap that touches your skin (chin) is padded.

My head measured 22 1/4 or 22 2/8.  Medium is stated as 22 3/8, 1/8 LARGER than my head measured.  I went for the medium because I'd read a review saying they are very snug.  It's snug, VERY snug, but not uncomfortable.  The padding is nice and soft everywhere and there are no uncomfortable spots, no rubbing or poking.  When on, there is no movement at all.  I can shake my head all around and it stays put.  Same when on the road, no movement when looking around and the wind hits it at different angles.  DO NOT buy a size ANY smaller than your head measurement!  You'll never get it off.

It's NOT totally quiet.  Everything is muffled.  It cuts out the high frequency sounds.  It reminds me of watching a shuttle takeoff.  A low roar with ocassional crackling.  None of the high frequency wind noise that makes your ears ring when finished riding as with a 3/4 helmet.  But, I can't really hear the engine.  I'm used to my 3/4 helmet and hearing EVERYTHING.  Now I can't hear the subtle sounds the motor makes.  It's hard to hear when to shift.  I'll probably get used to it and will eventually be able to pick out the engine noises better.  Visibility is good, it turns easily and doesn't move on your head as the wind angle changes or it hits your shoulder.

I feel VERY safe in in compared to my other helmet (a Fulmer 3/4 size large) which is really a bit too big for me.  I can't pull it off my head when buckled but I can get close.  The Scorpion wants to keep your head inside when taking it off.  Getting it off is harder than putting it on.

For value I have to give it a 10.  I've NEVER had a $300-400 helmet so I don't know what they have that this doesn't.  But compared to my $70 Fulmer it's MILES ahead.  I'd recommend it to anyone.

Joerocker, your head is the exact same size as mine.   I ordered a medium from Dennis Kirk and they sent me a medium/large. It's all ready to send back so I may just have to look into that helmet.

So did the helmet hit the ground in your crash?  Did you replace he helmet after the crash?  Are you still wearing a helmet that has been crashed?

I am glad it saved your head and I hope you plan on replacing it if it did make any contact in your crash.
