If you happen to meet some shady character selling a somewhat dirty and previously installed pipe, you'll know where it came from

Thankfully, DK still has some pipes for sale so I ordered a yzf1000 pipe.

Damn thieves!!!  Now I have to drive to school this week AND daily permits cost $8 :bs:

:(

scratch

Sonoffabizzaachez! I'll keep an eye out on BARF & craigslist.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

No I doubt anyone would even notice it wasn't stock the way it's painted.  The pipe itself looks aftermarket but not the head pipe really

scratch, I think we'll have to push back our maintenance thing.  There's no way I can get the pipe by this saturday :(

If there's anything on your bike you want help with though, I'm game :)

OK they unbolted it from the flange ... OK atleast they worked for it ... stupid ...   :x  ...  maybe I should ahve used torx bolts ... harder to have those lying about But I guess you could shove an allen in there and get it even then ...
Cool.

I'll be ordering some tamper-proof allens or Torx bolts.  My dad, being a Mac Tool dealer, has the tamper-proof bits I would need.  It may not be perfect but your average person wouldn't know how to get those off without a saws-all.  I can't imagine a person stealing a scratch-and-dent pipe being all that smart either ;)

It would be really helpfull if you could tell me what threads are on these pipes?  I'm guessing M8 or M10 by something but I don't really know

M 8's I'll give you exact pitch tommorow ... maybe I can mod the bolts somehow so its going to need some weird tool ... but what ??? No idea ...
Cool.

Instead of a disc lock you need a pipe lock.  People amaze me buy their cheapiness, I see or learn something stupider everyday.

It seems like such a freak thing to happen, I don't know what people could do to protect themselves.  I thought about red loctite but that would just make it difficult for ME if I ever wanted the pipe off again

I'm betting it's M8x1.25 but thanks very much for checking!

I'm crossing my fingers that yzf1000 pipe is the same.  If it's so different I can't move the holes a bit, I'm just going to find a stock exhaust to install.

The YZF 1000 is the same can, and the threads are M8X1.25. You try torx or the torx with that point in the middle ... so just any old wrench wont fit. Or get a metal rod machined up to the right size and insert it into the allen hole, You'd have to pry it out before inserting a allen wrench ... and it wont be easy to get out and of course tack up the flange to the header ... But yea its getting ridiculous ...
Cool.

If a thief wants it, they will get it. Everything is just bolted on to a motorcycle is fair game, if the bike is left out for the taking.

Someone here once posted their bike being stripped. It was locked up. From what I recall, all that was left was the frame and engine.

I am always asked why I do not ride my TL to my PT job. It is so easy to unbolt something, like the steering damper. Only 2 allen bolts hold on a $200 part. Have not been able to locate safety bolt due to the required length.
Common sense in not very common.

That is the one thing I really hate! A thief! :x
It is times like that I believe they should have their hands cut off....well...take a finger or two for the first offense...then take the hands. I've been lucky that nobody has taken anything off my bike but I'm sure it will happen one day. :(
