I was just ordering some parts from Ron Ayers and noticed that the carb boots(the ones that goes between the carbs and cylinder) are no longer available. Is this going to be a problem if I find out mine need replacing? Is there another part that will fit? Thanks.

have you checked www.bikebandit.com ?

They usually have these in stock.

davipu

I think I still have a couple if you need some

DerekNC

I checked BikeBandit too and they no longer carry them either. The company evidently has discontinued them. They carry the boots for the 2004 models so I'm wondering if they would work.

As far as needing boots now I think mine are okay but was just checking on parts availability. Does anyone know if the 2004 boots are similar(they're more expensive)? Thanks.

From www.MrCycles.com:
21-1
13101-01D00
13110-01D02  (replaces 13110-01D01)   $13.32

O RING
09280-40010  (replaces 09280-40003)   $1.60

RonAyers lists 13110-01D02 as being superceeded by 13101-01D00 $16.17

The 01+ boots may be larger since the carbs were increased in size.
Common sense in not very common.

Great info. If this was back in the winter when I wasn't doing much I could have put that along with some other info into a website database to make it easier for everyone. Thanks.

i would just get a lunch box filter if the boot ever craps out on you.  Connects straight to the carb.  plus gives you a little horsepower.

He is looking for the boots that mount the carbs to the motor.

Speaking of the airbox boots what do you guys do with the vent hose that runs from the head to the airbox when you use a lunchbox? It looks like if you leave it open it'll just suck in dirt.

it's a vent hose.....
vent to atm.
positive crankcase pressure
it spits air out of the engine

also pull the cover...there is a steel mesh filter under the cover

Werase643, you've got some good riding in your area. That's not too far from Pilot Mountain. There's a couple of mountain type roads in my area, the one the NC Zoo is on is the best. I can hit 47 on my roadbike on that road :o . Lots of curves too.

hahahaha no.   there was this one time I found this little town had one gas pump and one paved road.  I left, the place smelled funny.

DerekNC

There's a few towns around here that reminds me of Mayberry. I haven't noticed any strange smells but I've been here all my life so I'm probably used to it.
