Yep, sold her today for $1500. Such a sad time in my life to see my pride and joy go away but I'll get another bike. I would like to thank everyone on this site for helping me solve any problems at all with my GS. I loved the little bike but she had to go. It is sad to say, but I won't be on another bike for proabably 3 years or more due to my Dads wreck that nearly took his life. I WILL ride again. Just have to take a long 3 year abcense. But don't think ya'll got rid of me. Haha, I'm going to stay and lurk around. But, again, thanks for making such a wonderful and helpful bike community. Later

you sold it and taking a 3 year leave of absence from riding BECAUSE of your dad's wreck?

puzzling but your reasons only need validation by you. you and your family have my continued wishes and hopes on your dads FULL recovery.
I hope you both ride again and enjoy it as much then as you did before the accident
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

i understand why u are taking some time off.  ur only what, 16?  ur parents are probably scared for your saftey every single time you ride.  its understandable.  you prob dont want to push the limits with your parents after the whole thing with your dad.  you respect their feelings.  seriously, you could be a jerk and fight with your parents about it, but u choose not to, which is respectable.  is that the reason? if not, then i just went way off course.  but good luck and stick around!

I can understand that. 15 (or is it 16 now?) years old. Dad had an awful accident, Mom has to be very anti-motorcycle right now.
I think him giving up his bike to keep peace in the house is a very mature decision.  :thumb:
We'll still want you to keep us around, just cause the bike is gone doesn't mean you can't lurk around in here... ;)

Hey, best of luck to you and your fam and thanks for sharing your story with us.  Hope you get another ride soon.

I wonder, any bets that the GS will still be made in 2008?  :)

Ya'll pretty much got it right. I sold it because my mom said it scared her to see me ride off somewhere. My dad, however, has already said he will never ride again, he says he still loves motorcycles but will never ride again unless its an emergency. Its understandable. But I am only 16, and thought about it and decided that right now, I should just listen to them and not fight back, and I have a long way ahead of me, plenty time to get another bike. I'm thinking GSX-R 600 once I return to the world of 2 wheels. My Dad did say I could keep the bike, but he said if I kept my bike, then I wouldn't get that 2002 Dodge Dakota SXT thats sittin outside waiting for me right now, and they bought me a 1985 Chevy S-10. So, it was either the bike or the truck, so the most reasonable went :( But hey, 16 y/o and 2 decent running trucks, I think I'm doing pretty good. lol. well, I'm out. Later guys.

96gs-
You're a lot smarter than I was when I was 16.  Nothing more valuable than a happy family.  The bike will wait, & you get a cool truck.

I wish your entire family and especially your dad the best of luck in the future. I can understand his reasoning why he doesn't want to ride anymore, and I think you made a very mature decision to not put your parents under any more stress than they already have by getting rid of the bike. I'm sure everyone here will agree with that. Take care man.

Sorry about the whole situation 96...i hope your dad gets better really quick.  Prayers out to him.  I can only imagine how difficult it might be to part with the bike as well but some things are more important.  Your a smart and considerate person.....ok kid.  :thumb:  :thumb:

Hey, I figure since my decsion was pretty much based on my Dad I think I should update how he's doin. He's shown alot of improvement. Rides with my Uncle occasionally to work and all that. Gets out even more than he use to before his accident. His ribs still hurt and he's sore pretty much all the time but that is just obvious. I took some pics of his bike incase he wanted to see it and he had to throw them out cause it hurt him to much to look at something that nearly took his life (understandable) but he's doin alot better so its all good. I can't say this enough though .. I WILL ride again. Actually most of this money I'm going to save up for a nuce down payment on a new bike of my choice when I get one. I might buy a new stereo for the S-10 which is only 75 at a pawn shop. So I'll have about $500 that I have to start off with. I should have close to $3000 by the time I'm ready for a new bike. But anyways I gotta run. Later all.
