Hey,
I finally went down after 2 yrs and 12 thousand miles.  I went for a short ride to the mall to return some pants and saw some guys on sport bikes so I stopped to say hi. Ended up riding w/ them for 20 min or so, the GS kept up pretty good, these guys were flying like mad and walkin there bikes. After we split on my way home only 2 miles from home I come to a red light and lock up the front doin 30 or so. I flew over the handlebars and rolled a few times 10 or 15 feet. I got up and looked up and down. Left knee,  both elbows, both wrists and lower back were all torn up good. Lower back has the worst rash. Went to the E.R to check out my left wrist that was hurting pretty good. Turns out I fractured my Navicular bone, not too bad. Doc said it looks like i've broken it b 4. Anyway, i'm up nd around to the market ect. The rash hurts some, not a killer tho. I was able to ride the GS home. I need new right front turn, and handle assemb. plus passanger peg. Other then that she is A O K  as am I. I see a bone specialist this week but It should be ok. It was a short ride  that turned into a long one, had my jacket  been on nd gloves, would of been less severe. :x

WEAR THE GEAR.--- oh well, as the guy that ran over after the accident said, "anytime you can pick up yur bike and ride home you're doin ok."

How in the heck did you do that?  The only time I locked my front up was doing ~ 15mph on dirt and a truck pulled out in front of me.  All the front did was start to washout but I caught it, barely.  I've mashed my front pretty good and never got the feeling that I was even close to going over the front.  Could you give some more details, thanks.

From reading your post I get the feeling you were cruzing along and then "OH SHoot, a red light" and you just grabbed all the front you could.

"I explored too far"    sorry but that was funny.

but any more details you want to add? We learned from others mistakes so if there is anything else we/I should do to prevent this would help out.

Ash!!!  What were you doing not wearing your jacket?  Hummm.  Did you not learn anything from your roommate?  :nono:   I'm glad your ok though.  How long do you think it  will take you to fix your bike?

P.S.  Sorry about pool on Saturday.  My computer was unplugged this weekend because I was painting the room it was in.

Don't you know trying to do a stoppie at a traffic light is bad?

I was wondering how you managed to lock up the front brake too. I've locked up the back but not the front. Did you attempt to stop in the middle of the lane too? Maybe that had something to do with it seeing how that's where all the crap collects.

Did you only apply the front brake?
My diatribe is over!

We all make mistakes.  It happens.  At least you are all right, well, I mean at least your injuries will heal up  :thumb:

Ya, it was just the front brake. I'm hoping to be back on soon but I'll have to see how things go w/ my wrist. The bike doesnt look too bad i need: the right side engine cover that says suzuki, new bars, front R. signal, R. passanger peg, and front brake reservoir assemb.  That should be about it. *fingers crossed* Im waiting to see a doc about my wrist, it seems they are all on spring break down here.  Funny thing is the doc said it looks like i had previously broken it. I've  hurt it b 4 but never thought it was that bad. :?

That stinks!  Unfortunately it doesn't take much to lock a front tire (fluids or debris on road, old/heat cycled tire, incorrect or damaged front forks/suspension, etc...).

I'd like to ride an ABS equipped bike once.  I'm curious to see if I'm really missing anything by not having ABS.  Ah...my next bike will probably be a FJR or VFR, so I'll get my chance  :)
