Can one of our CF or Fiberglass people here make a gauge bucket?  i only ask because it seems to be a very popular item.  What about a CF dashboard?
Cheers,

The gauge bucket would be tough to do with the internal shapes. I would not sell one for less than what you can a new one for, about $30.

The dash would not be tough to do. Just need a good one to make a mold from.

i swear if i knew how to make CF stuff, and if i knew how a seat cowl works, i would quit my day job.  someone should donate their time to teach me.  then we could split teh profit.  far fetched i know.

Not speaking for Dgyver here ... making nothing ... ever is easy $$$ ... 1/2 the time people you try to buy or do stuff with dont show or isn't willing ... then the first 2-3 weeks of making a product are fraught with stuff that falls apart, looks ugly and just plain dont work ... finally you get all your ducks in a row and start to get something done and someone comes up with a funky ass idea and every one now wants that ... and There is always that lack of availability issue ... you want 7/8 inch tubing ... was sitting on the shelf for 3 months ... you saw it ... now none ... its gone ... People you give stuff to for this and that lose it ... Just getting the peices all made is just insane ... even for simple stuff ... Not to mention people suddenly want more $$ for the same work or just plain say its hard and refuse ... Small steps guys ... if he wants to make Dash plates ... I'll help him along ... and since I wont buy a dash plate I dont think, and I'll not buy a seat pan either ... making me impartial ...

i was reading up on glass and cf , i read a few manuals and stuf to try and learn but i dont have the reasources knowldge experience money or TIME
and if dgyver is normal like most of us. and has a real job and bills to pay i am sure making molds would not make it to the top of the list very often

( rootin around, found a few more pennys to throw this way)

I would not quite say I am normal. I work 2 jobs, 60+ hours, 7 days a week. Good thing I have an understanding g/f and dog. About 3-4 hours each evening, I have been devoting most of my time to finishing the lower, which is almost finished. Especially since a member here has already paid for one, a long time ago (and plus I want one). There is well over 60 hours in the lower master fabrication, then there is still the mold making time. There are several days minimum required to make a part with the mold prep and setting. Then several days to cure. I do work on several projects at a time since time is required for the mold build-up to dry. Still trying to figure out the best way to make a 2-piece mold, 1-piece molds are no problem.

If anyone wants to learn how to layup cf, feel free to come over. Once you get into it, is not that tough but mistakes are expensive. I have been pretty much self taught since James did not have much time before he had to ship out.

D, what time are you Srinath getting together? If it works out, I will bring my LCR meter and measure those gen windings.

I will be working at HD from 8-6. Not sure if I will have time to sneak out during the day. Any time after 6:30 I will be home.

that's very typical of what I've seen on other automotive boards.... everyone's willing to SAY they want it, but when time comes to cough up money all you can hear are crickets.

IMHO if I were going to do something like this I would require payment FIRST.   I know I would have no problem paying for something in advance in that type of situation

D - Any time after you get off work will be fine with me also. I've no major plans other than stuff around the house, yard, and shop.

Conan - Have you been to the Shack to get parts for your ABoss project? I've got the battery replacement circuit board built and am waiting on you now. I also need some type of small power cord to go from the adaptor to the junction box. If you've got an old wall wart with a coax plug on the end, that will work. PM me if you've had a change of heart and I will pull the plug on that project and free up the bench space.
