I put on a 14 once (they sent me the wrong year though :x) and my chain was pretty loose. With a 13 there's a chance you'll have to change it, plus you may get binding in the chain. You could try it if you like experimenting with things, but don't forget it will be an experiment :P

As far as changing it, it's easy. Just place the screws from the case in order so you know where to put them back in, they're all different lengths. Getting the sproket off is pretty self explanitory, there's a pin or something. And you'll have to loosen your chain.

anybody know what size chain to use and where to get from. i'd rather steer away from problems if i can.

well, get another NEW stock chain, being as this is an experiment for you and most of us there is still a chance you would need to go back to stock, or atleast up to a 15T. now, get a clip type masterlink for your old chain if you dont already have one. with the old chain nicely cleaned and your new gear installed, run your adjusters in moving your rear wheel forward almost to the stops. install your old chain and wrap the extra end around your rear sproket till it overlaps the oppostite end. now you will have a good idea where you need to cut this chain (your oldone that is) once cut, makesure you put new masterlink on facing the correct direction, (at the top of the sproket opening facing rear of bike) then adjust your chain tension, Lube chain Very well. now take it for a ride and tell us how it works out. IF you find you dont like it, put your old/OTHER replacment sproket back on and install the NEW chain you bought.  no sense in ruining a new chain for a test.  If you like it then you can repeat steps to new chain.
