Hey, been riding 3 weeks now and finally had my first crash.

I was coming around a VERY tight corner (130 degrees?) when it happened.  I've navigated the corner before in my car, and have always disliked it, mainly because the road that feeds the turn is a 45mph road, and even in a car, you have to slow down to 15 to ensure you don't go wide and risk hitting an exiting car (since it's blind).  Basically, when i tried to take it on my bike, i felt like i was going to go wide, so i tried to lean more and give it some throttle, but my front tire hit a huge patch of gravel and dirt and that sent me sliding.  Fortunetly i was in full gear so i only have a small scrape on my knee.

I'm posing some pictures so you can see the turn... and maybe somone can learn something from it.

how did the bike make out?  anytime you can pick up your bike and walk away its not 1/2 bad. it took me 2 yrs to lay mine down, never so much as dropped it in that time. smart move wearing yur gear tho   dont be afraid to get down a little in those turns, the GS is pretty nimble bike.

same thing happened to me a month after riding, i just DIDNT see that BRIGHT patch of WHITE sand and before i knew it my GS 360ed to the right and i slingshoted to the left

best part was i was on the way home from ordering gear so i got a little road rash on my legs and hands

ohhhh the irony!

PS

Glad you made it out in once piece!

There's something a little "Columbine" about that avatar.  Maybe it's just the high-school-looking kid holding a couple of guns thing...that's what it reminds me of.

Seems i can't even have a joke avatar =/, they arent real guns they are called airsoft guns, i play with my friends, its very similar to paintball with the exception that they are modeled after real world weapons

Only damage was cosmetic.  scraped up the side pretty nice, but nothing broke.  *whew!*
