Idles Good but weird Tinggg Sound

hey guys, When I start my bikr in the mornings or when she cools of a little. Just idles pretty good but the bike will like cut rite out and make a Ting noise and cut right back in it's weird and hard to explain. but maybe people have the same thing soo it might be understand able thanks Guys. Sounds like your cutting the wires off for a sec and then letting them go or sumthing. Runs good tho. Thanks

take both your index fingers and push the into each ear while the bike idles.  go try it i bet it will take care of the problem, no more tinging.

i've tried this before.  it was when i did both sides when it worked so dont forget to do both.

Geez this a tough crowd sometimes!

Does it seem the ignition stops for a few rpm's and then starts up on its own? The "Ting" does not matter (unless you have a microwave cooking something...then it means the timer has finished  :lol: Sorry). That may be only the sound of expanding steel in the exhaust system. With the engine running, you may not be able to hear a single "ting" (Sorry, again).


We need more information to diagnose this.

Things to check:
1) Fuel level (don't laugh - you wouldn't be the first) and fuel tank quality.
 i.e. is there rust or other crap rolling around in the tank?
2) Fuel petcock setting (PR, ON, RES)
3) Battery and other electrical connections
4) Connections between the signal generator and the ignitor.
5) The STOP switch (if pressed much it could be worn to the point of staying on, killing the engine)

There you go. Gain experience and relate what you have found to us.
