Basically I'm looking to get the best "sport" tire that would fit the GS.

I know, I know - I've searched the forum but couldn't find a definite answer.

Dropped by a few dealers and after searching frantically in their catalogues the conclusion was the Metzelers ME1 in the back and ME33 in front ...  :dunno:

Anything better ?!

a high performance tire will need to heat up before it will perform like it can.  Just make sure you have ridden on them abit before you take any twisties.  Also make sure to wear in your tires when you get them to take the top layer off, or else they will be slippery.

That's exactly what I am running.  No complaints.

Really ?

What's your riding style like ?
Tackling twisties aggressively ? The odd trackday ?

Anything else I should know about them ?

Oh, how much didja pay, out of curiosity ?

:P

The ME33 came with the bike and the M1 came on a wheel that I bought off Ebay.  The seller didn't even say what kind of tire was mounted to it but it was practically brand new.  So I paid $70 for a set of two wheels, a crappy front tire...don't remember what brand...and the M1 that looked new...

My riding style is as aggressive as you can get on the street but you can only go so fast...too many unpredictabilities for my comfort level.  I havn't taken it to the track yet but plan on it sometime this spring.  All I can say about the M1 is that it's wearing down fast but I havn't ever felt like they weren't sticking when I needed them to.

My M1 is starting to get the squidly flat spot in the middle which is kind of embarrasing but what can I say?  I commute on the bike and try to rub the outsides as much as I can, but it's just a really soft compound.

Bridgestone BT096 are probably softer than the Metz. If you not are riding really aggressive at all angles, then the tires will wear out in a very odd pattern.
Common sense in not very common.

Thanks ...  I can't go wrong with them, then.

I've found a li'll bike to comute on and thus I'll be using the GS on the weekend to do twisties and what-have-you.

BT096, eh ?  :dunno:
Hmm ... I'll search and see if they come in the GS wheel sizes ...  :dunno:

Yes they do and I run them on my GS but you may have a difficult time locating them in the US. (not sure where you are) Most dealers can not get them. Stickboy at www.dbmotorsportsracing.com has them in stock.
