how do you perform preload adjustment? i have the c-spanner wrench but i don't know how to use it. do you have to loosen some bolts first before you could adjust it?

some people take off their tire to get to it, i got mine in there once, it was a Buddha Loves You. So now I just use a long flat blade screwdriver, put it in one of the slots of the shock and tap it on around with a hammer.

If you have the spanner, and you can get at the shock, slip something over the wrench for leverage, there should be a metal sleeve with the stock tool kit. I put the bike on the centerstand, put the spanner wrench and sleeve on the shock, and tapped it with a hammer to move it a notch or two.
