Couldn't find this in the FAQ and my search turned up zilcho...

What's the size on the bolt on the underside of the bike you loosen when doing the oil change?

I don't want to round that sucker off. The 11/16" and 17mm sockets seem to work but just wanted your opinions.

Thanks.

Lest everyone thinks that a 17mm socket will fit their oil drain plug ... there are actually two sizes depending on your model year.

See the What size socket for engine oil drain plug? thread, especially the post by gsJack.

17mm...make sure you dont' strip it...that screw is VERY hard to find

I got a couple, complete with oil pans, so when you strip it out let me know.

you know, i never remember what size it is, or even which system, so i always end up just trying a metric and an american.  one thing i noticed is that, while one of them is a tighter fit, there isn't one that fits that bolt _perfectly_ it's always just a hair too loose...
