Although my riding experience isn't all that far along ... only a few thousand miles on my GS ... but I have this urge to track race. Could anyone advise me how to start off? What classes I should take or books I should read?

Cheers,
Alex

It is best to do track days first. Not sure where in FL you are but Jennings is a very good track.

No ... sit on it and go brrrrrrommmm .... brrrrrrooooooommmm .... and so on. then turn up speedvision when they have like old IOM races or somehting and then sit on bike and copy them ... But doing that before practising Brooommmmmm, brrrrooooooom might be dangerous.

start by reading "Sport Riding Techniques" by Nick Iensatch.

then take a track school-I suggest keith code's superbike school. then repeated track class...and just hand over your wallet to the tire guy...

600rr-10 months and 4 sets of tires...

cant say ive heard of lithia Fla, so i havent a clue where it is. i understand sebring as an ok track, West palm beach has Moroso Motorsports park, further south is homestead motorsports.  and ofcoarse there is Daytona most these have track days. rules very for each place but most common are Lights get covered, fresh tires front and rear, NO engine leaks what so ever. leathers, hightop boots, gloves, snell aproved helmet.  hit the trackdays and see what happens
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.
