Took my bike to main campus for lunch today (fist time parking on campus) and got a $30CAD ticket because my parking stub/receipt blew away :x ... for a cage it's fine because you put it face up on the dash; on a faired bike it's probably okay too because it'll stay if you slide it under the screen - but where on the dash am I suppose to stick it on a '89 GS500? Sticking it under the rubber fork cap thingy on the top triple obviously didn't work today... what do you guys do? (Tape? Gum? eek...)

lol.   That's where they placed the ticket.  The piece of paper issued by the machine is only like size of a post-it note (they should really make it self adhesive), and my university has an aggre$$sive policy - at $6CAD per hour for parking I suspect someone might have stolen my receipt...

get one of those cute refrigerator magnet of your choice and put it on the tank...

Rubber band to the handle bar.  Thats where they put my ticket. :-) and where I'll put parking passes now.  But why not buy a annual pass?  Mine was $40/yr USD for school.

i placed mine in the gap of d handlebar and handlebar holder plate....the magnet idea is cool though...im always afraid that a cager would steal the parking ticket...cheap bastards

Go to student court and fight it. I won several similar cases doing that when I was in college...it was actually a lot of fun to have a chance to play lawyer. Love the Baby GS and the forum.

I don't usually buy parking tickets for the bike... but one thing that prevents cagers from stealing your ticket is to write your plate number on the front of the ticket.

oh, and if there's a receipt section of the ticket, rip it off and take it with you.

then stick the ticket to your license plate... tape, elasticband, or (if you're desperate) even gum  :thumb:

well that sucks.  parking fees at my school were about $350 (us) per year.  so i never paid for parking :).  they let us get away with just parking near bike racks, or next to buildings... just pretty much anywhere out of the way, and i never got a ticket.   it was the one of the best things about riding to school.

you have two choices.... a) go fight it, as cernunos suggested, or b) just ignore it.

of course, i'd only recommend (b) if you guys have campus police, like we do.  they are not real cops, so the only power the school parking office has is holding your records until you pay up.  of course, how would they know who you are, just by looking at your bike? (and no, they don't have access to your dmv records -- at least in the states)

That sucks, on my campus there is motorcycle parking and if you park next to the bike racks the parking people don't care, especially if you have a bike lock and you lock your bike to one of the racks...

On my worksite they are sensible enough to give you a little metalic sticker and ask you to put it on the forks or the tank and well as the paper pass which you keep with your other documents for the year or whatever. It's only the size of a postage stamp and works well.

I second fighting the ticket if you have time. How the hell did you get into the lot without paying? If you prepaid I'm sure there was a gate of some kind, right? Stick it to them and at least get your $30 worth of administrative face time.
