Hey does anyone know the horsepower rating on the new 500F Iv checked everywhere  and no luck?
It's not fast if it's got 4 wheels !

JetSwing

gs horsepower: not enough

probably in the high 30's

Aaaagh...about 38 at the rear wheel, a little more if I help with my feet. The poor little GS is so slow that little ol' ladies in Buicks will be bashing at your rear fender all the time. You'll be afraid to race anything bigger than a mo-ped and you'll grow envious of Ninja 250s and 500s. Pitiful little machine...but I love my Baby GS and this forum too.

What is wheel HP of  the Ninja 250?

At any rate, I 'm still glad I got the GS over the 500 ninja, HP be damned!

Ninja 250 makes about 28 at the rear wheel. But it is so light and maneuverable that you can outrun anything else with it. Mmmm, OK, maybe not anything else but it is quicker than a stock VW Beetle and corners like a cat after a rat. Love the Baby GS and this forum.

Who owns a ninja 250?

Would it make a good second fun bike? Or would it be redundant?

I thought it was "corners like a cat on carpet"?    :)

Horsepower...  What's it matter if you're having fun.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

I wouldn't want a Ninja 250 as a second bike unless I had a bigger 1st bike, like maybe a Superglide or an XB12 or other. Actually the Baby Ninja is pretty quick for a 250...with a light-weight rider. And it corners real well too. It and the 500 Ninja and the Baby G are all pretty much in the same class except the 500s have a heavier payload and are a bit faster and stable on the highways. I do think the Toddler Ninja has the prettiest body style of any of the smaller sport-bikes. Love my Baby GS and this forum.

I have a 250 ninja.  Ok so first I have to say that I had to rev like a madman just to keep up with traffic.  I mean you are not going that fast but it feels like mach 0.35.  I basically killed the engine in like 2 weeks. Nose dives like a mofo under braking. Water cooled means something more that can break and will break.  Not to mention 16" rims make it virtually impossible to get good tires.

sorry bout the rant....

I rode with someone on a Ninja 250 just this weekend, and in no way am I envious of it... I clearly had more take off power than the little 250  machine... Though, if I'm not mistaken they are registered for the same speed as the GS!

A guy that works with my husband told him that his HD could "blow your wife away."  Eh, whatever.  The GS500 pulls out more than fast enough for me.  I'm gone before cars are even thinking about shifting into second gear ... so whatever.  And ... I paid CASH for my bike ... all those HD guys and guys with the more expensive bikes will be making payments for years.

haha, not meaning to down HD's.  I love them and hope to have one (or at least a cruiser) within a few years.  Just saying .....  Some HD guys are pretty snobbish.  I know I'm not the only one that they sometimes ignore on the road.  haha.

I'm happy knowing that I paid $1000 cash for my bike; that I can fix it myself; and that there's not $5000 worth of chrome on it to get dinged up.

What HD owner can say that?  :thumb:

While true that no-more can you buy/build an HD for 1K, they are, without a doubt, the easiest bikes to maintain and repair. Also I never had 5K worth of chrome on any of my Harleys. I always preferred the painted look on everything, excepting the air-cleaner, wheels, derby cover and points cover. Any Harley rider who snubs the little G or any other rice-bike is no different from a ricer who snubs HD. I like all bikes but there is only one Harley Davidson. Lovin' my little ricer Baby GS and this forum.

I think it's very cool that you ride and enjoy both.  I want to get a cruiser myself.  Not sure if I'd go with a HD (heard they aren't as reliable as the imports).  Am sorta thinking of getting a Suzuki Boulevard.  But ... I think it's very cool that you mix it up like that.
