I've got the bug, may jump ship too... ZX-6 calling my name!

There is a gorgeous 2001 Ninja ZX-6 with 2,100 miles on it calling out to me.  The guy wants $4500 for it and it's in perfect condition.  I've read some reviews and people seem to like it.  If I like the way it handles and I can get him down to $4000 I think I'll take it.  Any of you have any experience with these bikes?

I ride two-up about half the time and the "little" GS just doesn't seem to cut it any more.  Low power and poor braking.  I'm also tired of the 50 mile seat while riding two-up.  When I can't wiggle I start to hurt.  If it were just me riding it I'd be happy.  Since it's not, well, I think it may be time to trade up.

So, what do you think?

Problem is, I haven't found a nice forum like this for the Ninja!

sounds like a sweet deal...

i've been on back of my friend's 600rr and it ain't a good place too be. i don't think a sports bike is ideal for two up riding.
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

"Two up riding half the time...tired of the 50 mile seat...when I can't wiggle I start to hurt." Hmmmm...you don't even want to know what I think. Love the tiny GS500, New Zealand, and the forum.

from what I have heard, the 600rr is deamed as the most uncomfortable bike to ride.  "plank like seat"  low clipons.  Its way more radical than any other bike really.  But the zx-6 sounds nice.  thats alot under retail, 4985 is what kbb says.  Get it, its a great price.

OK, I rode it.

The seat is WAY more comfortable than the GS.  Plush, dare I say it,  almost cruiser like.  The reviews all said it was comfortable and with a more "straight up" riding position than the other wanna be racers.  The reviews were right.  I'm almost as straight up riding it as when riding the GS.  It's got more power, it's smooth, and the brakes are better.  The only thing I didn't care for was the clutch, it doesn't catch until almost all the way out, but once I get used to it, it should make for better shifts.  A fairing will take a bit of getting used to along with the clip-on style bars.

Sorry guys, I just couldn't resist!  It was almost a steal.  I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

Anyone want to buy a 2002 GS?  Great condition.  18,000 miles.  Well maintained.

I'll still harass you in the "odds and ends" section.

So much for the silver lining...

I wouldn't let you off that easily!  In fact, it's been too quiet in there...

You know, there was a Honda Rebel there too, one of those little 250CC cruiser bikes.  I tried to talk Julie into getting that and I'd just keep the GS.  She said she'd rather just hang on the back and let me do the driving.  If she had gone for that deal I would have gladly kept the GS.  It IS a fun bike and plenty for just me.  But, I ride way too much two-up and I'm NOT going to get a cruiser.  You hear that c, no cruisers!

When I tested it I took it to the MSF course and rode around in there for a while.  Even though it was abigger bike and VERY different to me, I managed to do the "S" and stay within the lines.

I just wish there was a site like this for the Ninja.  I'll have to do some more searching.  You guys have a good thing here...  Thanks John!
