Both my dad and brother in-law tried to figure out how to remove the clutch cable in order to properly lube it.  Needless to say even with both their knowledge of motorcycles, they were unsuccessful.  What method is used in order to gain access to lube the clutch cable.  Also, my throttle cable is "loose" up near the throttle itself, what would be the best way to remedy these situations?  Thanks!!

To disengage the clutch cable at the lever, it helps a LOT if you first loosen the cable at the lower end:

Spin the lock nut all the way up against the adjuster, and then crank the adjuster down towards the case with a wrench.

I like to either count the number of times that I turn the adjuster as I loosen it, or count the number of visible threads BEFORE I start turning it.  That way I can return it to the same adjustment when I'm done lubing the cable.  I use the same trick for the adjuster at the lever end.

Yeah, it's no big deal to adjust the clutch lever freeplay "from scratch", but this method lets me get close so that all I have to do is some fine tuning.

As for the throttle cable, look at this photo (ignore the hand and screwdriver):

As you can see, there is a similar lock nut / adjuster combo on the throttle cable, (right below the brake lever).  Spin the long, hex-shaped adjuster AWAY from the throttle grip to tighten it up.  Then lock it in place with the small lock nut.

If the adjuster is already all the way out you will need to:
    * Spin it back in a bit
    * Pull the fuel tank to gain access to the carburetors
    * Take up the slack by using the adjustment assembly at the carb end of the cable.

** Don't tighten the throttle cable so much that it is always ON.  When you release the throttle (with the bike turned OFF) you should be able to hear the throttle assembly bottom out on the idle adjust screw with a metallic "tap" .  [/list:u]Good Luck!  :thumb:
