It doesnt work anymore. I assume its the light, cause when it neutral it does start with the kickstand down (so i assume the bike does know it is in neutral).   is it a standard bulb? I havent taken it off at all and while I am sitting at work (cough cough) working.. (cough)  I am thinking about what needs to be done to the GS and i know that is one thing

Help!

You are probably correct about the bulb. The neutral switch of the GS  illuminates the neutral indication lamp and provides a path for the side stand relay to energize - simultaneously. But, if your bike is on the side stand when you start it the neutral switch doesn't matter.

If you are electrically savy, here is a great schematic by GSTwinner John Bates. It tells the entire story.

The lamp BTW is a Stanley 158 HD.

you can pick up a bulb at any auto parts store.

sometimes when it's really bright outside, you can't tell if it's on or not...

Here are three bulbs that will fit:

158 pulls 3.36 watts at 14 volts has average life of 500 hrs.

194 pulls 3.78 watts at 14 volts and has average life three times the 158.

124 pulls 3.78 watts at 14 volts and has average life ten times the 158.

I don't know the prices or availability.   The 194 and 124 run a bit hotter than the 158.  The 158 meets Suzuki's spec. of 3.4 watts on the nose.
