I saw a group of 3 motorcycle cops on Interstate 5 in Oregon last week. Two were riding side by side and, without exageration, their saddlebags could not have been more than 3 inches apart. The third was riding just behind the other two within 18" of the others rear wheels. They were probably going about 70.

Anyone know if this is standard practice? I mean, to me this was nuts. It was a 65 zone and all 3 big police bikes fit into the space of a single van.

i work for hillsborough county pig office and althoguh alot of cops do break the rules you can't just get mad right off the bat at ones doing95 with no lights, many many deputies will go to priority one calls that are routed to them without lights, they usual only turn into the gumball machine for traffic stops, high speed persuits and traffic accidents..

just some 10-43 to help you out (yeah 10-43 means info)

as for the motorcyclists .... they are just dumbasses the police riding course is insanely hard and i dont think i can even pass it.... one event you have to ride your harley cruiser through sugar sand  :?  *shrug*

cozy

They may have been practicing, MC cops in philly perform thrill shows to support the Police Athletic League.

I have seen this too many times traveling the interstates where a city cop in another county traveling well over 85 in a 55 and in a work zone. This is out of his juristiction! Breaking the rules? So what give a cop the right to break so many rules? What kind of example is that for them to set?
Common sense in not very common.

i dunno, i just said that sometimes they are going to priority one calls, if they are outa their jurisdiction then they are just assholes who think they are above the law

I've got a lot of cops in my family.  My cousin (who is also one of my best friends) is a motorcycle cop.  He is super cool and he just wants to make it home safe to his wife and work on his drag bike or his Harley.  Just like the rest of us.

The shaZam! they put up with from some of the trash out there would turn every single one of us into ass holes in about a day.

And as far as cops speeding, I'd rather see that than see a cop going the speed limit.  Then everybody slows down to his speed and are afraid to pass.  That is REALLY annoying.

i mostly agree with you.  most people call police officers pigs or bacon or whatever, because of a situation or two where they got into trouble and got caught.  whatever it may be... speeding, loitering, loud parties etc.  But come on people, they are there to protect us, arent they?  Sure everyone gets mad when they get a speeding ticket, but there are reasons for speed limits.  wait till your kid gets killed while playing in the front yard because of a teenager speeding around a bend in the road.

now dont get me wrong.  i love to drive fast.  and yes i speed in my car/bike.  when and where is what makes the difference.

hehe.  i live in an "unincorporated" area (not officially part of any city), and for the longest time the pigs simply refused to patrol the area.  however, that did not stop them from calling every year asking for donations.

pigs, no?

i think the tendency is for many cops to be on a power trip.  i've seen it in my own experiences with police and with others.  i work with kids and have had to sit  in with several of them while they get arrested.  the cops always tell them all this shaZam! about how they're going to spend time in jail, get convicted of felonies, etc.  in reality the kid might get probation or the like.  but the point is these officers love to see people squirm and they love that feeling of having that power over someone else.  it's dispicable to watch.
he is able who thinks he is able.
