Joe, I'm 100% with you on the Church's wealth. Democratic systems, well I see your point but what is better? Here you don't need to be mega-rich or have corporate backing to head up a government. Thirty years ago we were very much a two-party system but now three major parties with several others hovering around, maybe it has improved things a bit but there are pitfalls waiting but hey that's democracy for you. I'll be there on May 5th to caste my vote that's for sure. (We have a National or General Election on that day)

Seeing as all the likely Cardinals are JP II's nominees it's hard to see the church of Rome changing direction with the new Pope but there are a lot of simmering issues all over the world concerning the Church so maybe the one after this will be a reformer.
