After saving for 2 yrs I picked up my new bike yesterday.  Its a 2005 GS500F blue/white

I have yet to take it for a ride since you need to pass the MSC in my area which Im doing in a couple weeks.

My problem is that once I got the bike into my garage I noticed a rubbing or brushing sound.  I put the bike on the centerstand and spun both wheels and to me its sounds as though the disk is rubbing the brake.  Is this normal on a new bike(0km/0miles)???  I have ridden before and never noticed any such sound...maybe Im extra alert because this is my toy

im not sure i have an  04 and when i got mine i heard no such noise. but mine had a mile on it but i think that would have nothing to do with it. maybe your just a little over protective of the bike i would take rit out then see if you hear it if you do than something may be wrong.

there's probably nothing wrong.  it's probably just brake drag.  a small amount of drag is normal, and will diminish as the brakes are broken in.

Drag is normal you should hear my DL650.  This is most evident when the bike is brand new and before the rotor and brake pads get a chance to wear in a little.
After you ride your bike for a few miles without using your brakes come to a stop and avoid using the brake that is in question.  Touch the rotor  with your fingers and it might be slightly warm but should never be hot.
Oh yeah, one more thing, don't listen to all those little noises just ride
the damn thing.
It's not your mothers Lexus.
Good luck.
Don't forget to rev that engine.   It's a whole other world on the other side

the pads are "kissing" the rotors, it is normal.  Honda I believe, put return springs on a prototype so the pads would not touch when not applying the brakes.  But they found out it only increased the time it took for the brakes to react so they never continued with that.  And they also found it has no adverse effect if the pads are "kissing" the rotors.

Yes.. What he said..

They may also "buzzz" when you hit them at speed..
The pads superheat the air in those tiny holes in the brake disk.. As the pads slid off the holes, the superheated air, now expanded, escapes and makes a small popping sound.. Hundreds of those sounds sound like a buzzzzzzz...

Nothing to be worried about, normal sounds..
There is a whole world of new sounds you will discover riding a bike in traffic! Enjoy!

Completely Normal... mine still does it, nothing to worry about.

Not that you didn't already get your question answered but yes my 04F did that when it only had 14km's on it. For me it dissapeared by 200km's.
