Keeping wheels clean(for those who care,anyway)

I noticed almost immediately after finding this Web site the tip regarding cleaning wheels(Kerosene/WD-40). My '89 whitewheeledwonder has sparkling white  wheels thanks to a wheel cleaning product that I've used for years on my old sports car's alloy rims.....P21S. Every month, I spray some on a relatively clean towel, wipe rims, spokes and hubs and presto.....clean & shiny! Of course if you let your rims collect road and brake dust and chain "off-fall" for months at a time, your task is more arduous. The nice thing about P21S is that it doesn't harm the finish of those rims, and unlike petroleum based products, doesn't act like a magnet for more dust to collect on their surface. When it's pouring rain outside, just rubbing, polishing, waxing and detailing your ride can be very therapeutic. Plus, you can have a cold one or two and not have to fret about whether you tightened and connected everything if you were doing something mechanical as opposed to just "rubbing". I had a friend once who was turning wrenches on his Triumph T-100R, having a few brews as he did so. Forgot to tighten the bolts on the bottom of his forks. Sad to say, the resultant mishap ended his riding career. But you really can't get yourself into too much trouble if you forget to buff out your tank, or neglect to remove the polish on the chrome bits.

and for the rest of you who are almost as lazy as me, just spray pam on them after you clean them and the next time you wash your bike the dirt will wash off.

I thought Pam was only for radiators

Yep pam helps.  I use WD40 or equivalent to clean my wheels.  It breaks up chain grease in a flash
