So this line is leaking and it connects the fuel tank? to the switch, here's a picture of where it is. http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jamesschaming/detail?.dir=2dc2&.dnm=8f1d.jpg&.src=ph

What can I do to fix it and how long will it take? I only have tomorrow afternoon to get it done and it has to be fixed.

dryan,

Not sure if this is the hose I'm thinking of (or if this will work), but you could turn off the valve at the tank, pull the hose off, take it with you to Home Depot et al. and find a comparable line to use as a temp. I'm thinking it's either the hose that runs from the tank to the "reserve/pri", or the hose that runs from the tank to the "on". Alternatively, you could tape it up, and run the petcock in a position OTHER than one using that hose. That's awfully ghetto though, and not sure it would work.

Yep - that's a fuel hose.  See the diagram at the bottom of the Fuel Hose Routing page.  (NOTE: The Frame-Mounted Petcock and its connections are different on '01+ models.)

On such short notice, I think rizp's idea about taping up the line (as a temporary measure) is a pretty good one.  Unless you're prepping it for sale or something!  :o

Yeah, its not like gas likes to eat tape or anything.

Lazy fix:  Cut line at leak, insert appropriate size tubing, place hose clamps on either end of cut and tighten.

Correct fix:  Remove entire offending hose, take to NAPA or equivalent, get appropriately sized length of hose, re-install.

Perhaps this is a good opportunity to put in an inline fuel filter.  Just cut the hose around the leak and insert a fuel filter to bridge the gap.
I came here to kick @$$ or chew bubblegum...and it looks like I'm all out of bubblegum.

don't tell him that, that whould be thinking ahead.... can't let that happen you know.
